Well, I took a chance and purchased the Apple Watch (with no LTE) and tried it myself.

The Verdict: It Works, After a Buggy Start I was hesitant to buy one without knowing for sure. Yes, there was a Strava App for Apple Watch, but some commenters said it didn’t work or was completely useless. I know I could cancel the cellular service if I really don't use it, though.I wanted to find the answer to a simple question, “does Strava work on Apple Watch Series 3?” I went online and found some conflicting information about whether the Apple Watch really worked with Strava. But I still don't know about spending the extra $100. In that way, I see the GPS + Cellular option as a way to create opportunities for me to leave my phone behind to be more in the moment, but still be able to reply to necessary work communication. Or it would be nice to step outside to play with my kids in the middle of the day and not feel the desire to open my phone and scroll through Reddit for no reason. It would be nice to go on a walk and leave my phone. I work remotely and my schedule is very flexible, so I usually take my phone with me so I'm reachable by in-office coworkers, even if I'm stepping outside to walk through the park next door, or going across the street for groceries.īut while I don't run or currently do many activities where it's not possible to carry my phone, I like the idea of making that a part of my life. I'm the kind of person who has my phone on me 95% of the time. Now I'm looking at getting my first AW-S5 GPS + Cellular.

Wanted her to be able to reach me or me to reach her. Last year I bought my wife the S4 GPS + Cellular because she sometimes leaves her phone far off in a stroller when she's out with our kids, or at the pool with them.
